Hi everyone

Welcome back to 2009, I’m sure you have all had an amazingly busy week.  I hope your rolls are rising and your energy is not being zapped already.  Below are the details for this term and attached are the readings, skills rubric and dates for 2009 for your information.

Readings

The readings for Term One are attached and you will find them on the Cluster wikispace also.  They are:

Principals’ Workshop

This is at Tapanui next Thursday 12 February from 1 to 4 p.m.  At that we will cover the Action Research Projects, programme outline for the year, discussion around key elements and you will get a chance to develop your ideas onto the Action Research Projects templates.  You will be given a disk with the Powerpoint, Teachers template and Appraisal Format on it (these will also be put on the Cluster wikispace after the workshop).  We will provide nibbles and coffee etc so don’t worry if you missed lunch.

Dates

Please feel free to ring or email me with your dates for this term, I can’t wait to be back out in schools working alongside you all.

Teachers Workshops

The junior workshop is Thursday (19 February) so  please email me the names of junior teachers attending from you school or let me know on Thursday at the Principals workshop at the latest, as we are catering these workshops and need numbers the week before.  Teachers will not need their laptops as we will work in the computer suite here at Tapanui.  The workshop day will cover the following topics: Action Research Projects, personal planning time – on A.R.P.s, website exploration – specific to their level and across all curriculum areas (for direct implementation into classrooms), personal skills development around wikis and uploading onto the web (where necessary).  It is vital that all teachers attend these workshops as they will set up the teacher’s projects and programme for the year.

I will need names of teachers attending the senior teachers’ workshop by Friday 6 March (for catering purposes).  It is expected that the format for both workshops will be similar but developed for different levels of the school.

Students Workshops

Attached is the students’ skills rubric that needs to be filled out by each of the students you will be sending to the student workshops later in the term.  These need to be emailed, faxed or sent to me via snail mail by 13 March for your students to be included in these workshops.  Please indicate which day (25 or 26 March) you need if you have other things happening and I will attempt to accommodate your wishes.  These will be for a full day and will be held at Tapanui School.  Students will need to find their own way to Tapanui for the 9 a.m. start. They will not need to bring anything except their pencil case, we will have everything else they need here.

This newsletter can also be found on our cluster wikispace.

Have a great week

Kim
